The customs and rituals of the day of Arafat
At dawn, all the pilgrims proceed from Meena towards Arfa, which lies to the east of Mecca. Before noon, all the pilgrims gather there. They then pray, atone for their sins, pray, seek mercy for Allah, and also listen to sermons from scholars. At any given time, pilgrims visit the Namaz Mosque, where they offer Zahoor and Asr prayers together. This period is known as “standing before the Lord”, and ends at sunset on the performance of the Maghrib’s prayer. These rituals are of such importance that the Hajj pilgrimage without it is considered illegal.
